The 22nd release on Cosmic Elements is a deep and meaningful LoFi track entitled ‘The Message’ by Thylacinus.
‘The Message’ is a thought provoking fusion track with lush jazzy keys, dub reggae beats, chillhop elements and meaningful lyrics about the current predicament of human society. The idea behind the track is to create a moment of reflection for the listener in the midst of dreamy chillout vibes.

Cosmic Elements is proud to welcome the first release from Thylacinus alongside the brilliant Da Funksta, with two tracks of old school (mostly) instrumental west coast hip hop coming together to form ‘Lazy Sunset’.
Opening track ‘Lazy Afternoon’ is a sun soaked laidback beauty, with hypnotic harmonies, soothing vocals and solid beats perfect for any occasion. On the flip so to speak is ‘Sunset Boulevard’ which is a more funk laden affair which does exactly what it says on the tin – imagine being sat in a Cadillac convertible cruising down Sunset Boulevard in LA, sun beating down and there you have it. The most important question is of course, what colour is your Cadillac?
Look out for more singles and an album from Thylacinus over the next few months. Alongside Thylacinus on this release is top European hip hop artist Da Funksta, whose label ‘The Old Skool The New Class’ (or ‘TOSNC’ for short) is phenomenal, so check it out!

VINYL RELEASE – Thylacinus & Da Funksta ‘A New Beginning’ [Cosmic Elements]
For fans of old school, LoFi and mainly instrumental hip hop and funky downtempo beats in the style of Pete Rock, MF Doom’s Special Herbs series, Mushroom Jazz and LTJ Bukem’s Cookin Records imprint, here is my first ever vinyl release which is under my ‘Thylacinus’ (pronounced ‘thigh-lah-sinus’) alias alongside the brilliant Da Funksta , comprising 10 tracks and entitled ‘A New Beginning’ 🙂
It’s a limited edition run of just 250 copies worldwide, with the artwork image from none other than the Mushroom Jazz legend himself Mark Farina. It’s exclusively available on Bandcamp or you can buy direct from me (which would be cheaper, as no fees from third parties – send me a direct message) and I’ll ship to anywhere in the world. I would really appreciate your support on this project which took a very long time and lots of effort to put together, so we’re hopeful this will certainly not disappoint!

SEAN SMITH (SMOOTH AGENT / CLASSIC MUSIC)
“Both tracks are cool, but the standout jam ‘Sunset Strip’ (Original Mix) is a serious head nodder!”
MARCIA CARR (TALKING MUSIC / RINSE FM)
“Nice downtempo groove”
HIPPIE TORRALES (MOTOWN / UNIDISC / TURNTABLE ORCHESTRA)
The third EP from Thylacinus on Cosmic Elements is a beautiful lounge/chillhop/old school hip hop two tracker entitled ‘Roll Another One’. The artwork, titles and sound should explain what this release is all about.
The first track ‘Sunset Strip’ has that west coast feel but rather than being about the place of the same name, it is more to do with the feel of the track and the sexy bass line conjuring up thoughts of things happening as the sun goes down. Ethereal keys, funk infused guitar and beats as well as that sexy bass line make it all possible. The ‘B Side’ entitled ‘Portland Stoned’ is a multi-layered pun name, which is for the listener to work out as there is more than one Portland in the world, however, the track itself is a dreamy atmospheric beauty with a deep subby bass which shows exactly why the overall release has the title that it does.
The influence for this EP started for Thylacinus over 20 years ago and now it finally comes to fruition, adding to an already consistent and growing discography, with a vinyl album release on the way before the close of 2022.

CHEMARS / DA FUNKSTA (THE OLD SKOOL THE NEW CLASS)
The 19th release on Cosmic Elements is a Thylacinus rework of Tom Conrad & Mr V’s ‘Sign Of The Times’, which was originally released on Adaptation Music.
Thylacinus pulls out all the stops to rework ‘Sign Of The Times’ into a summery Cafe Del Mar track, with a fusion of jazz, old school hip hop, a dub reggae style bass line and dreamy, atmospheric keys and pads. Originally released as a house track almost a decade ago with several versions, ‘Sign Of The Times’ contains a message that is still as relevant today as it was then.
A very familiar name on the scene, Mr V started out with Masters At Work and has gone on to become a household name as a hip house vocalist, producer and DJ, gracing the likes of Defected, Strictly Rhythm, Vega Records, Dessous and numerous others.
Thylacinus has released several EPs on Cosmic Elements already and has singles alongside Da Funksta on the TOSNC label, with a vinyl album release due in August, also alongside Da Funksta.

Cosmic Elements welcomes the first solo release from Thylacinus, a broken beat, nu jazz, instrumental hip hop and soul fusion entitled ‘West Coast Lines EP’ which is an ode to the American West Coast musical sound, as shown in the EP and track titles. And what a release it is, after many months in waiting!
The EP opener is ‘Tequila Sunrise’; a soul and jazz fusion track made for any occasion, with a fantastic rhodes piano leading throughout over lush chords, French influenced guitar work and a funky live bass line. Next up is ‘London To L.A’, which continues in the same vein with its soul/jazz fusion feel; warm inviting rhodes, infectious bass line and a soft guitar which combined captures the feel of two major cities, an ocean apart. Last but not least is ‘The Sonoran’ which fuses funk and heavy string work giving it a dramatic big room sound, leaving you wanting more and completing a very strong first solo EP for Thylacinus.
