Cosmic Elements’ 23rd release is the long awaited reworks of Tom Conrad & Andy Compton’s ‘Textures EP’ by none other than German legend Van Bellen.

Balearic chill and sunshine vibes are the order of the day on both of these remixes which showcase the beautiful guitar solos of Andy Compton. First up, Van Bellen’s sublime remix of ‘Okinawa’ is a lush chilled vibe which says sunset at Cafe Del Mar all over it, although it could easily work at any time of day where the sun and a beach are involved. Van Bellen then takes a nu disco versus ethereal chill approach to his remix of ‘Phoenix’, which once again screams Cafe Del Mar. Two masterpieces from a musical master right here.

For those that are unfamiliar, Van Bellen is a legendary German producer and remixer who hit the major heights in the late 90’s and early 00’s with support from Sasha, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold and many more, featuring on numerous labels such as Sony, EMI, Bedrock and compilations such as Gatecrasher, Global Underground and numerous others, whilst growing up and working alongside the likes of Nalin & Kane, Blank & Jones, Marc Romboy and more.

The 18th release on Cosmic Elements sees the return of New York producer and talented musician Dissident with ‘Consequences EP’.

With parallels to early OM Records and Naked Music’s Carte Blanche series, this superb two tracker begins with the lush female vocal track ‘Late Night Anguish’ which features Dissident’s niece Cordelia Tapping on vocals. Dreamy and ethereal summer vibes all round! on the flip so to speak is the brilliant ‘Disemotioned’ which features Dissident himself on vocals and also has sunshine written all over it. Completing the EP is the dreamy, thought provoking and downright beautiful track ‘Release’, one for a summer’s afternoon without a doubt.

Dissident follows on from his ‘Phrases Of Life’ album, previously on Cosmic Elements, with his music also featuring on the iconic Distant Horizons compilation and on parent label Adaptation Music. With a wealth of experience playing for the likes of Quincy Jones and Miles Davis, this a producer who certainly emphasises quality and consistency.

Cosmic Elements welcomes the first solo release from Thylacinus, a broken beat, nu jazz, instrumental hip hop and soul fusion entitled ‘West Coast Lines EP’ which is an ode to the American West Coast musical sound, as shown in the EP and track titles. And what a release it is, after many months in waiting!

The EP opener is ‘Tequila Sunrise’; a soul and jazz fusion track made for any occasion, with a fantastic rhodes piano leading throughout over lush chords, French influenced guitar work and a funky live bass line. Next up is ‘London To L.A’, which continues in the same vein with its soul/jazz fusion feel; warm inviting rhodes, infectious bass line and a soft guitar which combined captures the feel of two major cities, an ocean apart. Last but not least is ‘The Sonoran’ which fuses funk and heavy string work giving it a dramatic big room sound, leaving you wanting more and completing a very strong first solo EP for Thylacinus.
