NEW ALBUM – Thylacinus ‘Dream Caffeine’

https://soundcloud.com/thylacinus-music/sets/dream-caffeine?si=53ad5312a98f4d769c046711cde35a4e&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

Following on from a vinyl only album alongside Da Funksta, Thylacinus returns with a similar yet different flavour with new album ‘Dream Caffeine’.

The title was chosen as a reflection of the tracks themselves; ten offerings of dream inducing, atmospheric, thought provoking chill vibes with dashes of dub, jazz, funk and soul.

Dream Caffeine opens up with the seductive vibes of ‘Penthouse Seduction’ and ‘Cafe Del Groove’, leading into the atmospheric grooves of both ‘Between The Signs’ and ‘Illusion Of Grandeur’; ‘Three Ways’ offers a funky interlude before the deep and jazzy and funkalicious ‘Malbec’ and ‘Miss Them’ make an appearance. Then entering the fray are the atmospheric, ethereal sunshine vibes of ‘Santorini’, arguably one of the standout tracks on the album. Another deep and jazzy track in the form of ‘Summer Thoughts’ is up next and closing the album is an ode to the passing of one of Thylacinus’ old time school friends, entitled ‘Procession’.

Tom’s early DJ career was heavily inspired by the likes of Jackin House aficionado Joey Youngman and this shows through, with ‘Time To Funk’ being what can only be considered a tribute to the man himself. You think this track is funky but it just keeps on bringing more and more infectious funk as time goes on. A classy groove, superb vocal and rhythm like no other, ‘Time To Funk’ is a massive dancefloor vibe from start to finish.

DA FUNKSTA (THE OLD SKOOL THE NEW CLASS)

Thylacinus returns to Cosmic Elements with his second solo EP which is a smooth jazz and funk inspired three tracker including two west coast hip hop gems, entitled ‘Perceptions EP’.

The opening track ‘Open Your Mind And Realise’ is a warm, soul inspired, thought provoking groove with funk laden beats and leads you into a place that you don’t want to leave; it certainly gets across the message of the EP title. Next up is the hard hitting ‘They Respect Nothing’ which takes you right back to mid 80s L.A with its funk layered infectious late night vibes. Closing the EP is ‘Avenue View’, all puns intended, with a driving bass line and and guitar lick leading up to some smooth soul interludes and completing another fine EP from Thylacinus.

Thylacinus is the alias of Tom Conrad who is currently better known within the realms of house music, however with his early influences of funk, jazz, soul and 80s hip hop it was inevitable he’d take this path at some point. Look out for more singles and an album from Thylacinus over the next few months along with music alongside his friend and top artist Da Funksta (The Old Skool the New Class).
